What I like is how organic it is... both in how you made it, the order of piecing, the actual design, and then the stitching. Well done!! and Inspiring!
I love it, Jo! They look like the Joshua trees that grow in the desert between Phoenix and Las Vegas. I particularly like the choice of colors that gives them that slightly eerie vibe. As I was looking at the photos, I was wondering which came first, the hand stitching or the machine quilting, so thanks for answering my question! The building you used to display the quilt really set it off quite nicely.
thank you so much Marilyn! I love that they remind you of Joshua Trees (which always makes me think of my favourite U2 album!). That's an old shed which is one of the few places with a big enough space to hang quilts, but I think the rustic look always works well with textiles.
Oh what an amazing quilt. I have been following your Moon Trees progress and the result is magnificent. Love all the little hidden treasures and the Carnival Crow especially. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creative soul.
Jo, what a creative, lovely quilt! Every new project you share with us is more lovely than the last. 😉 I just love the Moon Trees, including those exceptional Carnival Crows. More of those, please.
What fun to be reading your posts again, Jo! I enjoyed following your recap of your journey with this quilt. I found the solution of ghost tree machine quilting to be brilliant. It is subtle and lovely and secures all that handwork beautifully. Congratulations on such a special finish. I love the J + J in the tree!
Hi Rachel!! So pleased you found me here. It's thanks to you that I started using Substack, though I haven't made the full transition yet and am still writing blog posts too! Thank you for your lovely comments xx
