I have a new book coming out soon...

Well here is some exciting news… I have a new book coming out soon! Crewel Embroidery Handy Pocket Guide will be published by C&T Publishing at the end of August (most likely end of September in UK).

If the cover looks familiar that’s because this book is a reduced version of Modern Crewel Embroidery, the book I published in 2021. Basically it includes all the same technical information as that book but with just five of the projects, perfect for putting in your pocket!

I think we have picked the five best projects from the book and luckily I still own the samples for three of them! And I now have a great excuse to make new versions of the other two ahead of publication.

For those of you not familiar with the original book you are going to love finding out more about crewel embroidery and creating these fun samplers using beautiful wool thread. I designed and stitched each of these embroideries with Aurifil 12wt wool (the word crewel just means ‘embroidery with wool’) as I just love the texture and versatility of this thread. You will learn a wide variety of stitches and then use these to fill the spaces created by the design. The wool thread gives a raised matte texture which fills easily but is fine enough to give subtle definition when required. And it is a total joy to sew with!
