This week I have been building a new website! I have been planning this for a while but initially I thought I would wait until after the big FOQ exhibition. My Wordpress site is old and cluncky and doesn’t offer things like mail integration and has very little options for shipping. I also always had issues with customers not receiving emails with download links. So in the end I decided to just get on with it for the book launch!

I’m still very much in a transitional period at the moment. I have added eight products to the new site, including the all important pre-orders launching today, and have left all my PDF patterns and Aurifil spools on the old site for now. I will take my time moving them over and learning as I go. If you end up ordering from both sites and incurring a double shipping charge then I will of course refund you for the extra fee.

Eight products doesn’t sound like many but I’m also simplifying my website offering going forward. Since I sold the shop five years ago I have continued to sell a small amount of fabric, mainly as bundles or in kits. I’ve decided to stop selling fabric now (due to many reasons both international and personal) and have run down my stock completely. I only have charm packs left which are on the new site. In the future I am aiming to only sell my books, thread collections, artwork and PDF patterns.

Those of you who have been following my moon tree adventure will know that each panel has been an improv composition with me cutting and stitching the trees freehand as I went along.

But I thought it would be a nice idea to draw up a pattern and provide instructions and templates for a more traditional method. So here is the Moon Trees pattern! Two trees and a full moon.

In my last post here I told you all about the book and my reasons for writing it. I’m delighted to share three of the four projects from the book here. Above you will find the Eccentric Beauty cushion which introduces you to my Freehand Foundation Piecing technique. You can then use that for the Sunshine and Rainbows Playmat below, adding in some Freehand Rainbow and ‘Googly Eyes’ Appliqué and Improv Squares.

Finally we use all these techniques together along with a few extras to create a new mini version of my Intertwined quilt, complete with a new Dream Bird! This is the Cottage Garden Wall Hanging which includes some new flowers not covered in the Intertwined Improv Flowers online class (as I know many of my hardcore followers will already have done this!).

There is one more project which is Temperature quilt related and which I will reveal in a new post here in a day or so as I have a brand new Temperature Quilt from the book to reveal too!

This book feels very much like my baby and I must admit to being a tad nervous about putting it out in the world, still warm and blinking in the daylight! I hope you will be gentle with it :)

There is just one page of templates in the book (as it is all about improv!) and to be extra helpful I have produced a separate PDF of this page which will come as a digital download with your order. As with the Moon Trees box this will be available as soon as you order so do help yourself to an early exclusive Dream Bird (as long as you don’t need any instructions!).

I hope I have covered everything here but let me know if you have any questions. I will have plenty of books on my stand at FOQ if you would rather wait to collect one there and not bother with the pre-order. But if you do I am hoping to ship books out around the third week in July. All books will be signed by me to the customer unless otherwise notified (let me know if you don’t want me to deface your book!)!

And just a reminder that (for now at least) this book will only be available from me and as print only (no kindle editions or PDFs). I have absolutely no plans to sell it on Amazon though will happily supply it to select independent quilting shops if anyone wants to email me about this.
